Atmospheric Firing  

Our winter gallery show celebrates the alchemy of fire & clay. Firing methods included are raku, obvara (also known as “Baltic raku”), smoke / sawdust, saggar, gas, soda and salt. All of these firing methods engage the combustion of different materials (such as wood, sawdust, salt, or soda) during the firing process, which interacts with the clay body creating often unexpected and variable outcomes of colour and texture.
